Una Europa

Una Europa is an alliance of 11 leading European universities: Freie Universität Berlin, Alma Mater Studiorum – University of Bologna, University College Dublin, University of Edinburgh, University of Helsinki, Leiden University, Jagiellonian University in Kraków, KU Leuven, Complutense University of Madrid, Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University, and the University of Zurich.

Collectively, these institutions serve over 650,000 students and employ nearly 100,000 academic and administrative staff.

Established in 2019 as part of the European Universities Initiative funded by the European Commission, Una Europa seeks to shape the University of the Future by building a truly transnational European university campus. As stated in its manifesto: “We believe in a University that is not a place, but a body of knowledge, ideas, and values, evolving freely beyond borders, mediums and time.”

Una Europa organizes its activities through six interdisciplinary Focus Areas: Cultural Heritage, Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, Europe and the World, Future Materials and Technology, One Health, and Sustainability. These areas are designed to promote collaborative research on major societal challenges and to develop innovative approaches in education and community engagement. The exhibitions form part of the activities carried out within the Cultural Heritage Focus Area. Among its strategic initiatives, Una Europa has also launched a Seed Funding Initiative to support long-term collaborative projects across education, research, innovation, and public outreach within its academic community.
