Description

In 1888, on the occasion of the 8th centenary of the University of Bologna, an academic and a student committee were set up to organise the clebrations. These committees invited representatives from all European universities to the celebrations. In response to their invitations, numerous congratulatory messages were received. They were often written in Latin and richly decorated. Displayed here are those from the universities of Edinburgh, Helsinki, Krakow and Paris, which are now Bologna's partners in the Una Europa alliance.
