According to Eurostat, in 2022, women made up 59% of all master’s students and 49% of all PhD candidates. To achieve this result, women have overcome barriers and won the right to higher education. The journey has been long and bumpy, marked by both progress and setbacks. The objects presented on this page document this historical journey while also highlighting the ongoing policies universities have implemented to overcome the gender gap and ensure continued progress toward equality.
